Vacation Rewind

Next week I'm on vacation. So today and tomorrow I thought I would share some of the pictures from past vacations. Today's pictures are from 2003. I flew to Alaska for a few days. I got a round trip ticket from Huntsville to Anchorage for just $286. I flew from Huntsville to Atlanta and from Atlanta straight to Anchorage. It was an 8 hour flight on the way up, but as you can see below, the views out the plane window kept you entertained. The flight back wasn't as nice. It was overnight and just miserable. There was nothing to look at out the window and it seemed we were in a thunderstorm for half the trip. The plane was bouncing and jumping. I was a little concerned, until one of the pilots came out of the cockpit, grabbed a Coke and started a conversation with a flight attendant. And I was sitting there thinking, "this plane is about to come apart, and he's drinking a Coke."

Most of the people on the plane slept. I couldn't. It was too hot and my seat wouldn't recline at all. They showed some really bad movie, an episode of "Becker" and then the Justin Timberlake video to "Rock Your Body." Like I said, it was pretty miserable.

But Alaska was really nice. I would like to go back sometime. It's very strange to be 3,000 miles away from home and still be in the United States. And it never got dark. At 2am, it was still twilight outside. If you ever get the chance and find a $286 ticket, then go and see the Last Frontier.

Tomorrow we go to South Dakota.
