Another Hurricane

Well I see yet another hurricane might hit the US. Very soon I expect to hear that 45 percent of our refined oil comes from Florida. So expect gas shortages and higher prices. There is all this flooding in the northeast. I'm sure we get probably 115 percent of our oil products from that region.

Funny Stuff

First Look

I just got a first look at my new night time competition. And, yeah, I look forward to beating her on stories. Her name is Robyn McGlohn. Welcome to Sand Mountain.

Update: By the way, I meant the above as a good thing, nothing bad.

Didn't See That One Coming

I was never a fan of Walker Texas Ranger. I'm not sure I've ever seen an entire episode. Last night we aired a Walker movie.

At 10:56 as I'm sitting on the desk getting ready to anchor the news(delayed by Football) the movie wraps up. Then bang, bang some guy starts shooting. And one of the main stars of the show, Alex Cahill, falls to the floor dead. I just didn't see that coming. And it just ended with her dead. Where was Walker when you needed him?

No Vacation Days For You

We can't take vacation during November. And it's not just us. Basically every station in the country won't allow it's news staff to take vacation during ratings months. So November, February and May are out. No vacation and if you call in sick, you have to have a doctor's excuse.

I've never understood this. I just can't see John and Sally sitting at home with a conversation like this. John: Hey Sally. Can you believe that Carson Clark is off tonight and it's a ratings month. Well I ain't watching them no more.

The viewers don't know it's a ratings month. And when I take vacation in October, wouldn't they be just as much inclined to turn the channel as they would during ratings?

So I propose that news people not get any vacation time. None. Or, we send a photographer to follow everyone on vacation and we have to do stories. For example, Tonight at Five, Amy George's luggage gets lost at the airport or Tonight at Ten, Jerry Hayes cleans out his gutters.

0 for 3

I have three high school reunion events this weekend. Saturday night there is the formal event. Can't go to that because I'm going to be anchoring. Saturday during the day is the family picnic. Can't go to that because I'm producing the show and I will have to go in early. I had hoped to go to the Brewer Football Game Friday night for awhile, before leaving to do Football Friday. The past three weeks I havent' had to do anything before we go do Football. But I'm having to today.

So I'm 0 for 3. I hope my fellow classmates have a good time. Maybe when the 20 year reunion rolls around in 2015, I'll be able to go.

Beantown

Almost two weekends ago, I went to Boston. I wanted to see the New England Patriots. I saw them, I saw them lose to the Chargers. While I was there, I saw a few other things, including the outside of Fenway Park and The Bull and Finch, which was the inspiration for Cheers. Who knew they make a heck of a hamburger, fries and a coke at Cheers?

It's Gone

I took the bad picture of me down. People at work said it was disturbing them.
Oh, and by the way.
Amy George is Awesome.

More Mystery Dreams

I think I mentioned on here back some time ago about a dream I had where my cell phone was ringing. I thought it actually was ringing. Well since then I've dreamed someone was knocking on my front door, someone was ringing my door bell and that my home phone was ringing. Then last night I dream that an entire row of pay phones was ringing.

Who or what is trying to get in touch with me?

The Big Cookie

Sorry, there's a piece missing.

Borrow from Brad's Blog

I'm borrowing this picture from Brad's Blog. We found our competitions Sat Truck in the shop on Tuesday. We had gone to A&B wrecker to do a story and there in the shop was Live Star up on blocks.

It makes me think back to the days when 19 and 31 really went after each other. 19 bought a Sat Truck first, back in 1995. But 31 got theirs delivered one day before ours. It doesn't sound like much, but back then it was. Who had a Sat Truck first? Us or them?

Thanks

Thanks to all who left a birthday comment. They are much appreciated. Also I'm glad to know, I guess, that Football Friday wasn't the same without "C-Squared." Good Lord willing, I'll be back on Friday.
