The Long and Winding Road

In just the few years I’ve been at 19, I’ve seen so many people come and go. When I started full time in 1999, our stable of reporters included, Atticus Rominger, Roswell Encina, Andrea Dowd, Trace Trylko, Shawn Bracey, Jarold Lee, Jennifer Ingleright and Giovanna Drpic.
Not one of them is still reporting at 19. I realized that right now, I’m the longest serving reporter at the station. Steve was still doing sports when I started. Dianna wouldn’t come until the spring of 2000.

The list of reporters I’ve seen come and go, well lets see: Lori Johnston, Lensley Smith, Melissa Sanford, Todd Bender, Billy Hong, Joel Eisenbaum, Gail Ballentyne, Christi del Amo, Tasha Wales, Tom Perkins, Jason Miles, Claire Nelson, Melissa Stephens, Laurie Parker and I’m sure others that have slipped my mind.

In a way, it’s kind of depressing. You know not to get to close to anyone you work with, because soon the wind will be picking them up and scattering them to where the TV lights are a little brighter, the audience larger and the rewards bigger. It’s the nature of this beast we call TV news.

I found out today that another name will soon be joining the list above. I hate to see this person go. I kind of feel like a statue in a park, that sits and watches as the seasons go by, but here I remain.
